For the next few weeks we are sticking with Daniel Smith’s Story, which is tentatively titled “LabRat”.
BLURB: Inadvertantly ‘rescued’ (by a small admin error) seconds before committing suicide, Daniel is thrown into the Great Wide Multiverse and more adventure and misadventure than his otherwise mediocre life as a door to door vacuum cleaner salesman could prepare him for. He is assigned to the A.S.S. ( Alien Sentience Services) and promptly given a ‘new look’ and put into ‘training’.
We last found Daniel on Bancoon, Argle’s third moon, and a scientific research centre. Daniel has spent his first day with ASS being melted.

He composed himself as best he could in the body-shaped mould, and felt the electromagnetic waves pulse through him. Solidifying was every bit as disconcerting as melting. The jury was out as to which was worse.
Less than fifteen minutes later his perfectly proportioned body was still tingling as they led him to his newly assigned quarters.
“Quorn and I will review the design algorithms to see where the glitch is. We will recommence your testing at 08:00 tomorrow.”
“You will auto-engage in maintenance mode in” Quorn consulted his wrist unit, “five hours for a duration of three hours. Please ensure you are in your quarters before your shut down. Access to the entertainment and education modules is gained through voice command”. He indicated the screen on the far wall.

Poor Daniel. (I think I say this every week.) At least they aren’t melting him anymore. Lab Rat is such a good title.

I wonder what kind of body shape this mould has put him in. Finding that out has got to be as bad as being melted/solidified.

Such an imaginative premise – I would absolutely hate to be in Daniel’s shoes, although he seems in a better position at the moment, but one wonder’s what’s next in store for him.

At least there are great perks!! What an awful revolving door to be caught in.

At least he gets some downtime, with entertainment options, after all that disconcerting melting/solidifying.

This situation continues to be so amazing – I bow to your imagination! Really a fascinating tale, enjoyed the snippet.

lol – really I did laugh – melting or being resolidified and he can’t figure out which is worse – Poor Daniel – although I think I say that every week.

Okay, when I’m having a bad day at work I’ll think of Daniel. Hope they get that glitch worked out!

Oh, nice–he can tell Alexa to tune in the TV for him.

Both melting and solidifying sound pretty horrible.

I’m intrigued to know more. Molding into his shape is interesting. And what about the glitch? I can’t wait to know more.

I’ m so curious to read more. How does he even cope with all this melting and solidifying and remembering the process?

Whew! At least that’s over with for now, though it sounds like he has a weird curfew.

Melted then re-solidified? And conscious while it’s happening? Sounds horrifying! His new life sounds intriguing, though. Can’t wait for more details!

Leisure time? Sounds like an improvement.

They are all so matter-of-fact about this, which may be the most disturbing thing to me. Great snippet.

Is any of their information actually helpful? Considering how things have gone for him, I could imagine “voice commands” triggering not entertainment but Armageddon.

Very intriguing! I’m curious about the glitch and what other mold shapes he could be made into. I’m loving this world! Though I’m sure Daniel is not very happy there.
